CBD is the abbreviation of Cannabidiol, which is a naturally occuring compound in the cannabis plant. Although CBD does come from the same plant as THC, CBD is not psychoactive. This means that taking CBD, even in large doses, does not result in a “high” effect in the same way that THC does. The products that we carry come from hemp, not marijuana. However, this does not mean that CBD lacks a significant effect on the body. Learn more!
The answer is different for every individual person, depending on a variety of factors. Our recommendation is to start small, around 5 mg CBD, and work your way up until you find the dose that meets your needs.
Hemp seed oil is derived from the seeds of the hemp plant. Our hemp oil is derived from the hemp plant itself, including stocks, leaves, and flowers. While hemp seed oil often has an insignificant CBD concentration, hemp oil has a high CBD concentration and can through processing can have very high CBD concentration.
In order to be classified as a hemp plant and not a cannabis plant, the processed materials of the plant must test below 0.3% THC by dry weight. This is not enough THC to detect any THC related effects during the use of CBD products.
In a way that is chemically similar to grapefruit, CBD can have an interaction with some medications. Because of this, if your physician has ever cautioned you about possible conflicts with grapefruit, know that you may notice similar experiences with CBD.
Taken from FDA Regulation of Cannabis and Cannabis-Derived Products, Including Cannabidiol (CBD),
“There is a significant interest in the development of therapies and other consumer products derived from cannabis and its components, including cannabidiol (CBD). FDA recognizes the potential opportunities that cannabis or cannabis-derived compounds may offer and acknowledges the significant interest in these possibilities. However, FDA is aware that some companies are marketing products containing cannabis and cannabis-derived compounds in ways that violate the Federal Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act (FD&C Act) and that may put the health and safety of consumers at risk. The agency is committed to protecting the public health while also taking steps to improve the efficiency of regulatory pathways for the lawful marketing of appropriate cannabis and cannabis-derived products. FDA has a number of resources available that address cannabis and cannabis-derived products, such as CBD, and the agency wants to ensure that consumers and other stakeholders have access to these resources in a centralized location.”

While the amount of THC in a hemp plant is not enough to cause any noticeable effect when using CBD products, it is still present, and therefore could potentially be detected by a sensitive test, depending on the threshold that the test is calibrated to detect.
